Oh Wait, She Is 16?
Someone commented on one of the entries about my2kidzmom22 post the other day about her daughter. When I read the this thread I had not read the one before it where she first mentioned the problem. From the thread I did read I was under the impression that her daughter was in the 8-13 age range. The mom expressed how upset she was and sick to her stomach about her daughter having to deal with this and that she had called the school counselor about it. Preparing her for possible scenario's. All of it made sense for a mother whose young, tender daughter was so upset about her little "friends" doing this to her. I had no idea until I read this post that her daughter was 16. I realize a 16 year olds social setting can be tough, and I can even understand a mother feeling bad for her daughter, but seriously now- what rock have you been hiding under? Sounds like you tend to your daughters emotions like she is an 8 year old and that is doing nothing good for her self esteem. What in the world are you going to do in 2 years when she has to become an adult and really start dealing with the harsh world?
Am just stunned that this woman was talking about a 16 year old.

She posted a pic once of her daughter with the face and none-existant breasts whited out. Her daughter is as skinny as a pole and I thought she was 8.
Her mother is a total weirdo! She wouldn't post her photo or name for years. She recently posted an avatar, but took it down the other day. I think her name is Lisa.

yeah I though she was like 12 at the most. I was thinking why are her friends even on Myspace....makes more sense to know they are more in the 15-18 range rather than 10-12.

as a mom, i can see how your heart just breaks when your child is teased or hurt by friends. i think that is more where the mom is coming from. as my kids have gotten older, it's hard to see them struggle with the friend thing. I do not look forward to the teenaged years. some kids do not do well socially and it is painful to watch and not be able to do anything. cut her a bit of slack. Even tho her dd is 16, she'll always be her little vulnerable child whenever she's having troubles.
Regardless of our children's age it's always hard on parents to see them hurt. Well, at least for those of us that have sympathy.

I don't think it matters how old or young our children are... at least it doesn't to me. It hurts to see your own suffer this way. And you're right, the real world isn't any kinder.
