I Find It Hard To Believe
I am sure some of you have or currently are going through the girl scout stage in your home. Isn't there a posted list that tells the scouts what they will earn for prizes based on the number of boxes they sell? And if that is a yes, why does this mother seemed to be so shocked and appalled that a pencil is all her daughter got? I agree, a pencil does not seem like a good prize, but if you knew from the start that you had to sell 100 boxes to get a 'good' prize, then why are you complaining? I find it hard to believe she didn't know what the prizes were before hand. Did you think they were going to make an exception for your daughter?

I wonder how pissed AM is that it's not about her anymore?
Yeah I agree that a pencil SUCKS as a prize, but they always tell you the prizes before hand. There's no way they didn't know what her prize level would be. I think the Mom just figured if everyone else got a monkey, they'd feel bad and give her daughter a monkey.
Which would be unfair to all the other girls. She's complaining about all the boxes SHE bought and ate, but I'm sure every other Mom did the same thing. They just bought 20 more boxes than her, so their kids got monkeys.
This is why kids have such a sense of entitlement these days.
Since when is giving a prize mandatory? No wonder kids are brats today, they are raised by "give me" type parents.
Kids today act like they have to be rewarded to do anything good.
No wonder our society is messed up. They sell items to use the money for their clubs and are offended they have to even work at selling things to earn money.

The selling of the cookies doesn't benefit the troop much. It's a lot of work selling those cookies. Do you really think selling cookies is the best way my 4th grader should spend her free time?

If she doesn't want to spend her free time doing that, pull her ass out of girl scouts.
Girl scouts make $2 per box back to the troop. It's the highest grossing fund raiser for GS.
But our society IS messed up, and FAT.
Why should girl scouts have to sell fattening cookies as their main fundraiser? That's totally WHACK! Nice message. Let's all get FAT!

Not pissed at all. It's fun reading about everyone else!

Let me guess you are fat? You get fat one way, your own slovenly behavior. Girl Scouts and their yummy cookies don't make people fat. Lack of self control and being lazy make you fat. PLAIN & SIMPLE. Your comment is just stupid!
Girl scout troops do NOT make $2.00 back to the troop. It's FIFTY CENTS per box, or fifty five (if they select no incentives). The two dollars goes to the service unit.
