is this mothers priorities out of wack?
I said, "Yeah, because it isn't HER teen daughter who will come home pregnant!"
This mothers first (and perhaps only) concern seems to be the girl having sex and getting pregnant.
I would hope that a parents first concern would be the fact that a woman the mother doesn't even know is wanting to take her daughter out of the country. Forget that a boy is even involved. I think the more appropriate response would be, "No because I don't know the family well enough at this point."
Instead, the poor girl gets a big fat slap in the face from her mother because the response implies 1) she has a lack of trust in her daughter and 2) the daughter having sex/getting pregnant is more of a concern then the girls over all safety.
Nice job mom! Now your daughter is going to be angry at you for saying no, not because you were concerned about her safety but because you didn't trust her to keep her legs shut. Keeping going with that and you are guaranteed to become a grandmother before she graduates high school.

I agree with blogger-I also think that the boyfriend's mom's boyfriend is the kind of sketchy person you hear about molesting people. He has no connection to either the girl or even the boy.

Maybe the kid's telling the truth. Not every teen-ager is getting laid. I don't know... maybe she could try trusting the kid before belting out "YOU'RE GONNA GET PREGNANT!!!"
Yeah, that's a great way to keep a good, honest relationship with your kid.

Totally. I hated my parents for not trusting me when I was a teen, and I was a good kid. It was like a slap in the face. Man, her DD must be angry with her.

But then again, you all seem to preport to know the whole story. What if this cunt has a slutty daughter? What if there have been signs for a while now? I think the mom would be justified in some good solid, simple launguage to set the slut straight.

I would be concerned more about the Mom's boyfriend. I would like to think that I know my kids friends parents. I would have no problem with my son/daughter going on a vacation with their boyfriend/girlfriend if I knew and trusted the parents.
It is funny that she thinks if her daughter doesn't go out of the country she won't have sex. Kids have sex anywhere when they want to including right under the parents noses literally. My friend had sex with her boyfriend on the couch next to her Mom/Dad when they were watching a movie. A blanket was all it took. Pretty risky, but she was always doing shit like that.

well i have to say...i agree she shouldn't let her daughter go on vacation with her boyfriend. i mean, really Mexico, little supervision...not a good combination. HOWEVER, saying to her daughter that she'll be the one pregnant is really out of line. If she doesn't think her mom trusts her now or thinks good things of her, then she knows now that she doesn't.

The grammatically correct question would have been, "...ARE this mother's priorities out of whack?"
ARE refers to PRIORITIES. "Priorities" is plural, therefore, you use "are" instead of "is".
Additionally, there is only one mother in questions, so you need an apostrophe.
Finally, the appropriate spelling is "whack" in your instance. The definition of "whack" being:

WHY? Why should she realize that? Not everyone hangs around 2 peas enough to know everyone's history. At any rate, way to pass her own baggage on to her kid.
There are plenty of reasons not to let your child go out of the country with people you don't even know! Did she really have to call her daughter a slut to come up with a reason? Give me a break.
I think that mom needs to get a handle on things. Telling your daughter you think so little of her that she'll get knocked up on vacation is not really the way to build a good, open relationship.
The issue isn't about letting her go or not, it is the idiot response of the mother.
