I personally am not comfortable with people posting someone's home information. I have removed any posts I have seen with Seanna's info and will continue to remove comments like that. However, I think it is quite funny that people think anything can be done about their info being posted. What law is being broken by posting an address and phone number? Do you really think the police are going to act on a prank call? Good luck with that. You might be able to file harassment because of the phone call, but who are you going to name as the harasser? It's going to take a lot to figure out who called and I don't think you should hold your breath that the police or phone company are going to be any help in getting you that info.

Granted, I didn't know her last name until someone posted it on the blog, but I don't think it's illegal to post someone's last name. ;)
Nevertheless, this witch hunt is going to get very, very ugly. They're out for blood and I don't think they care who gets hurt in the process. And I wholeheartedly believe that Seanna is going to try to make the lives of people who post here a living hell... even if they're not posting anything negative.

Seriously people protect your rights. With your IP address Seanna can find out so much about you. Don't give it to her just to make her comfortable, what about your comfort and security? She's not someone you can trust.
My real IP address doesn't even show, just the proxy server for my ISP provider. My individual IP address isn't detected by IP finders.
It's a pretty easy thing to reset your IP address. Hit "Start", "run" and type "cmd" in the prompt. (use without the quotes). When the command prompt comes up, type "ipconfig/release" and then type "ipconfig/renew". You have now reset your IP address.

I work for a phone company and YES they will trace calls and YES the police will follow up depending on the volume of calls, nature of calls, etc. Our company is called constantly to submit info as "proof" for court cases. buy FYI, the owner of the phone will not get this info we must be supenoa(sp?) and it will be forwarded to the police/prosecutor

So tell us how to renew our IP address for sure. I read about unplugging your modem for 8 hours but that seems like a big PITA to do with any regularity.
My other question is why do ISPs allow you to keep an IP address for so long? Does it cost them resources to reassign one?

Unless you know someone who works for your ISP, odds are, no -- you can't "force" an IP change.
It's based off your MAC address on your NIC or Router, and the DHCP server keeps track of them. They are unique, like fingerprints.
If she REALLY wanted to find out who was who, she'd be grabbing the MAC addresses from the IP's she's harvesting... but I doubt she's smart enough for that.
Going one step further, there's another problem with her little "2+2=4" IP Harvesting matchup game...
She's using HER own logs, with it's own timestamp. If her timestamps don't match the timestamps of the sites she's using to guage who's post is who's past on IP, then she's going to be off. Plus, what happens when two or three people post in the same minute here? She can't know who said what, only that something was said... and that's ONLY if her time and this servers time match. My thoughts exactly. Her method cannot be 100% accurate as dates are different for everyone I believe. I could be wrong.

If you are THAT paranoid about being "busted", go out and buy a new router/cablemodem for $60 or so.
You'll likely be assigned a new IP when your ISP sees a new device w/ a new MAC address.
Really, it depends on the company. I use COX, and I've had the same IP for 2 years now.
You could also subscribe to NetZero or something, buy a modem, and only post when using that connection...
or do a google search for "Free Web Proxy"...

Unless you have multiple IPs from your ISP, and have each computer configured to use a seperate IP, it'll still show the same IP.
Like most people, I bet you have one IP which is configured for your CableModem/Router/Switch, and connect to an internal DHCP server served up from that same CableModem/Router/Switch I mention above.
Go on each computer, and do this:
Start-->Run...
Type: CMD
Type: ipconfig
See if the IP address matches. Most likely, you'll see 192.168.X.X.

No, that means you fall under my example...
Most people have one IP assigned to them by their ISP, and some people have more than one computer.
What this means, is that they "share" that IP... and how they share it, is by assigning that IP to a device which can, in turn, be a "parent" device for computers to use to connect to the internet.
Technical term is called NAT or Network Address Translation.
Host Device Gets IP from ISP
Host Device Assigns IPs from it's own pool to computers.
Computers use Host Device Assigned IPs to talk to Host Device.
Host Device in turn talks to outside world using IP assigned to it by ISP.

Personally, I don't believe she can. Especially with people who have cable modem. It was my understand with a cable modem that you have to pay for a static IP address and that a static IP address stays the same all the time. Otherwise, the IP address gets changed periodically. I don't know how often, but just that it does.

Periodically doesn't mean "every hour."
ISPs can and do leave you with the same IP address for months at a time. You have to pay for a static IP, that's true. But all a dynamic IP address means on high-speed is that the ISP can change it whenever they want to. And they don't want to do it very often. It's their guarantee that if they change your IP address without warning, you can't get mad about it.
I understand that if you are logged into 2p and you open a thread that OD has already posted her avatar to, she can read your data.

Geek found out. Banned OD for sure, Seanna confirmed OD was banned. A few days later it is rumored that Seanna is banned because all her posts are gone and she just stopped posting.
